Meet Vie

Thank-you for visiting my Web site. I am a writer and editor. In an earlier public education career, I was a speech therapist, special-needs teacher, elementary school dean, and assistant principal.

My husband and I live along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. We share our home with an eighteen-year old cat, Stormy, and with a kitten, Lily the Lionhearted.We are blessed with two wonderful sons and their sweet and beautiful wives. (And our three Grand-cats, Wes, Smitty, and Remy.)

Christ is the cornerstone of my life—He is the source of my joy, my strength, and my inspiration.  Apart from him, I can do nothing.

Violet? What a Name!

A few years ago, I gathered a tiny bouquet of my woodland namesakes. I’d never been fond of the name, “Violet,” but as I held those delicate blossoms with big heart-shaped leaves, I marveled at God’s creation. Maybe the name wasn’t so bad, after all.

Lord, help me to be like the violet.

Okay, maybe delicate is a stretch—but do give me a gentle spirit, and a big heart.

And like the runner-roots, let me spread your joy in all that I do, say, and write.
